Character resonance is the love, attention, and response people give a character and its story. A character keeps living in the world by continually collecting such resonance — how much it has accumulated is almost the measure of its life.
Resonance has visible forms: derivative works, clubs, conventions, a shared language players understand without explanation. Touhou Project is the example most often cited: beyond the original works, decades of fan creation have kept its characters alive to this day.
“Recreating characters” continues that resonance: letting the people who love a character live with it through becoming the character, interacting, and creating again.
